Full Truckload vs. LTL: Which Is Right for Your Freight?

Choosing the right shipping mode saves money and protects your freight.
Full truckload (FTL)
Your freight fills, or nearly fills, a trailer and travels directly from pickup to delivery. FTL means fewer touches, faster transit and less risk of damage.
Less-than-truckload (LTL)
Smaller shipments share trailer space with other customers and move through terminals. LTL can cost less for small loads but adds handling and transit time.
When FTL makes sense
- Shipments of roughly 10 or more pallets
- Time-sensitive or high-value freight
- Products that should not be handled multiple times
